Quincy Wilson becomes the youngest Olympic champion in track and field in the United States

The 16-year-old runner was named to the U.S. 4×400-meter relay team, making him the youngest U.S. men’s Olympic champion in track and field.
PSG’s full squad will be announced later this month, but Wilson confirmed the news in an Instagram post on Sunday evening.
“USA Track and Field called me directly,” Wilson coach Joe Lee told USA Today. “Then I called Quincy and told him the good news.”
Wilson attended the Bullis School located in Potomac, Maryland, near Washington, DC. At the Olympic trials, he set the world under-18 record in the 400 m (44.59 seconds).
“I’ve always dreamed of going to the Olympics,” Wilson told NBC Washington. Before the tryout, he said he didn’t feel too much pressure because he would be the youngest guy there – the loser. “I just go out there, work hard and, like I said, just chase my dreams. If I’m free, I think great things will happen.”
Wilson, who will turn 17 in January 2025, will surpass Jim Ryan and Errion Knighton, who were both 17 when they became Olympians.
