Penn’s organization to prevent abuse and sexual assault held a presentation by survivors, a rally and march on campus with the Penn marching band, a candlelight vigil and support from the Philadelphia Center Against Sexual Assault, a full-service crisis center.

Gen.G, a global esports organization bringing together top gamers in the United States and Asia, and Penn Relays, the oldest and largest track and field competition in the United States, are collaborating to create a new digital Penn Relays based out of the United States Marine Corps. . The Digital Pennsylvania Relay will be the first digital livestream to include gaming-related content and is designed to connect the community with competition and entertainment events. The event will take place on Friday, April 24 from noon to 5:00 pm on twitch.tv/thepennrelays. This was supposed to be the second day of Toyota’s planned 2020 three-day relays in Pennsylvania, but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the Digital Penn Relays, multiple teams of speedrunners and individuals will compete against each other to complete a custom Minecraft course surrounding the famous Franklin Field, complete with obstacles, water, lava and an ice field with boats. Echoing the traditional Pennsylvania Relays, the teams will include high school and college students, as well as several Olympic athletes. The team aims to connect generations of gaming, and team members may also include Penn State students, high school students, parents, alumni, teachers, and speedrunners.
Participants are encouraged to film themselves saying “We’re Still Running” and post #WereStillRunning and #DigitalPennRelays on social media for a chance to be part of the action before and during the event. Throughout the live broadcast, fans will enjoy videos of past champions recounting their greatest moments at the Penn State Relays.
Virtual Table: Sponsors will showcase their products and services, and school clubs and organizations will showcase their hard work during the livestream.

Gen.G’s partnership with Penn Relays continues its educational initiatives to help colleges and universities connect students, alumni and faculty through gaming.

Gen.G has partnered with Super League Gaming and its online resource Minecraft Minehut to create a unique relay experience for players. In Minehut, players compete in four mini-games in a digital world reminiscent of traditional athletics competitions.

As part of its strategic vision, Pennsylvania Relays, presented by Toyota, will strive to provide the athletics community with more events, both digital and in-person, and will return in 2021 to historic Franklin Field April 22-24. Payne relays have been adapted to situations around the world in the past. The events were restructured in 1917 and 1918 when several universities, including most Ivy League schools, cut their athletics programs during World War I. During World War II, travel restrictions reduced entry and spectators, and gasoline rationing was introduced in 1943 and 1944.
