Organisers had previously said there was only a 60% chance of the event going ahead after the men’s race was postponed on Tuesday due to severe levels of seawater pollution.
The Paris Olympic Organising Committee said this morning: “A water quality meeting was held at 3.30am on 31 July and the relevant stakeholders confirmed that the women’s and men’s triathlon events will take place on the morning of 31 July respectively. (UK time) and 10.45am (9.45am UK time).
”World Triathlon assessed the latest water quality results at 3.20am and deemed them to be in compliance, allowing the triathlon to take place.”
